Jewelry that is Truly from Out of this World
This beautiful sterling silver pendant contains a single meteorite sourced from Camp del Cielo which refers to a group of iron meteorites found in Argentina. Measuring 1” x ½”, each pendant is unique, stabilized from rust, and guaranteed authentic. Necklace not included.
Believed to be 700 million years older than the oldest rocks on Earth, meteorites are typically small fragments from asteroids broken off during the constant collisions that occur between celestial objects over time. Care: store pendant in a dry place and keep away from water and hair spray.
About Campo del Cielo:
The crater field for these meteorites covers a large area and consists of at least 26 craters, the largest being 115×91 meters. The craters' age is estimated as 4,000–5,000 years. The craters, containing iron masses, were reported in 1576, but were already well known to the aboriginal inhabitants of the area.
Campos were originally used by South American Indians in weaponry. The Indians claimed that the mass had fallen from the sky and hence the name Campo del Cielo (“Field from the Sky”).
