About the Author:

Alan Baczkiewicz has been an avid birder for 40 years. His love of bird-watching began in his teens when he led birding and nature walks at local birding hot spots. He created his blog, BasicsofBirding.com, to help spread a love for birding and to teach those new to bird-watching the skills and advice they need to be successful at this exciting hobby. Alan searches for birds across the US, and his continually growing list of birds he has spotted contains over 440 species. He is a member of the Buffalo Ornithological Society, the Rochester Birding Associate, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the American Birding Association. Alan earned his degree oin environmental and forest biology from SUNY-ESF, and now teaches middle school science and social studies.
