An Exquisite Combination of Art, Science, and Technology
Own a true collector's item, created by Bathsheba Grossman - an internationally renowned artist, who uses laser beams to create works of art. Each pulse of the beam passes freely through the glass except at its focal point, where the concentrated energy causes a tiny fracture. These microscopic sparkles catch the light, forming a permanent design floating inside the crystal.
The Galaxy Crystal is a cosmic paperweight modeled after views captured at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. The bright stars along the spiral arms, the delicate disk, and the strongly barred core are drawn here as they look from intergalactic space. The Galaxy Crystal measures 3 1/2" square by 1 3/4" wide.
Best viewed against a dark backdrop, we highly recommend the separate purchase of the rectangular Lighted Base with 4 built-in LEDs (item# 3085068) for optimal display.
Be sure to check out Bathsheba's latest laser creations in glass- the NASA Spacecraft Series Laser Cubes.
