Value Quality Price This looks like a decent addition to the fine Astroscan accessories, yet the experts tell me that using the Astroscan (or any telescope for that matter) is bad: the sun will heat up the primary mirror in less then fie minutes and ruin it fast, along with the secondary mirror and the lenses of the eyepieces.
Is this accessory worth ruining a $230 telescope, and having to send it back at for repair? $40+ for US Shipping one way, $35 for repair if not under warranty, minus the downtime to get the telescope returned.
Better to use a simple magnifying glass over some bright white inkjet photo paper. That is a lot better than ruining a telescope + lenses.(Posted on 10/3/10)
