This product is what you make of it...if you're a dunce and dont realize that you need consistent temperature around 80 degrees for the ootheca to hatch... then don't rate it badly.

You don't get the insects or a coupon for them. Instead you have to pay more for the mantis or for a praying mantis plus the food for them. The literature inside says the hatched insects need to be separated into small jars to keep the mantis from eating each other. Based on reviews on similar products it sounds like a good number of people get no hatchings from their eggs. In short, you get a container. You could call this a praying mantis habitat or a butterfly habitat or a small laundry basket or just what it is -- a little box.

when i got this kit i couldnt wait to raise my own praying mantis but when the eggs got to my house they never hatched and i waited as long as the instructions but the habitat is still cool its works good for flying bugs cause it dosent mess up theyre wings

This is an awesome habitat! It is so fascinating watching these grow up and observing their eating habits. We will probably go another round just because of the WOW factor! Love IT!!!!!!!
