Quality Value Price I don't usually write reviews but the Mirage has been such fun for our family that I have to say something. Not only do we all enjoy it at home but any visitor is also intrigued. There are a couple of reviews that I noticed here with low scores but I would bet that they bought the cheap copy which is pretty cheesy. Get the REAL one and you'll see the difference.

Quality Value Price Although this is far from being a precision optical finish, it still provides a lot of fun, for young and old alike. They are NOT always made to acceptable standards!. If there are any ripples or high or low points on the substrates, that intersect the light path, they will impact the final image.

Quality Value Price I first bought The Mirage back in the early '80s for a school project. It got SO much attention, the other kids ruined it trying to figure out how it works. A few years ago, I bought another as an Xmas present for an inquisitive family member. It was such a hit, we almost forgot to finish opening the other gifts. Place any small object inside and it appears to be floating just above (when viewed at an angle). The unit I bought in the 80's came with a green plastic "Start" button (that isn't there when you go to press it), but newer units do not. Please note, the mirrored finish inside the dishes is very fragile and easily scratched/smudged, so clean with care! People WILL want to jam their fingers down the hole to see if the object is really in there!

Quality Value Price The poor reflectivity of the mirrors makes for a very dim and unconvincing illusion. Optical aberations in the plastic mirrors cause visual distortions when viewing from various horizontal angles which further ruin the illusion. Aethetically, the product looks "cheaply made." I have another smaller model that looks more attractive and produces an utterly convincing undistorded illusion.

Quality Value Price This model only works from certain angles of height and fairly close up. It does work when you get in the right position.

Quality Value Price This has been one of the most interesting optical illusions that I have. Everybody from chief engineers to my grandsons stop to check this out every time they pass by. I keep changing the object inside and it hooks them every time.
