I was given a Grow-a-Frog kit when I turned 8. It's 25 years later and today my frog is still swimming happily around his tank. He's a great pet and I still remember my excitement and enjoyment when he first arrived in the mail and watching him grow from a tiny transparent tadpole into his mature frog size.
A couple of notes. Check out the official Grow-a-Frog website, it's extremely informative and helpful and tells you all the things you will ever need to know about the frog's care and you can make an informed decision adding a member to your family. Very easy to care for with a couple of easy tips - always refill tanks with spring water or distilled water, never tap water. Never, ever use soap to wash out a tank. If the tank smells, move it into a cool, dark area. You should never keep the tank in direct sunlight or an area that's too well lit by the sun, the frog won't like it and the tank will grow icky stuff! When the frog outgrows the tank it comes with, just go buy a terrarium sized tank at the pet store. It doesn't need to be fancy or expensive or even have a filter, but should have a lid. Male frogs don't get too big and female frogs only get a bit larger and they're a bit like goldfish - the larger the tank, the larger the frog. Feed adult frogs the floating food sticks that are labeled as suitable for turtles and African frogs. Feed according to the instructions. If the tank is getting too dirty too fast and the frog can't eat the food in a reasonable amount of time, cut down the amount of food. AND, if you're lucky enough to get a male frog, you'll enjoy it when he breaks into song once in a while. You'll know he's happy!

We bought this kit for my 7yr old daughter. She just loves her froggy. the entire family enjoyed watching him grow from tadpole to frog. and now he is a slimy and happy member of our family! As far as cleaning, he is really no more trouble than a fish! I can't imagine anyone complaining about a mess? you just refresh the water.. How easy is that!? well anyway... we love our froggy and as many smiles as he brings, I will happily refresh the water and hope he lives the full 30 years! ;) very fun! I would highly recomend the purchase!

I purchased a grow a frog kit last year and loved it! The frog outgrew the tank within a year so we let him go, but he is dearly missed. He was my 16th birthday present, and great quality for the price!

I got my frog for my 6th birthday. When I received the tadpole, I was worried it would die like the other pet frog companies. But this one lived, and instanltly became a family member. "Froggy" now lives in a 10-gallon tank with the 'frog friend' Grow-A-Frog sends, "Boggie". They are extremely easy to clean and care for (I don't know what the HECK reviews that say they are "to hard to care for" are talking about!). Even though they can't come out of water, they are EXTREMELY playful and affectionate. If the age-range is 8-30 years, I hope mine live to 30! My frogs are now 4 and still are going strong. I love them and highly reccomend them! :-)

My wife, a kindergarten teacher, has had wonderful success teaching the growth cycle using the Grow a Frog, Kit. One year she brought a frog home who was not quite fully mature at the end of the year. "Fred" will be three years old this March and is a loved member of our family. He constantly frustrates our cat "Gracie" and is alway a topic of conversation at gatherings. 'Kudos' to to your product and thanl you for the hours of enjoyment not to mention what this doed for hands on teaching for young children.

I purchased this for my son, while living in GA, for his K class to enjoy. The children loved watching the class room frog grow and they even loved more so taking care of him. We brought him home at the end of the year and I was amazed as to how big he got. He lived for nearly two years and most likely died because of the mom of the child he came home with....Worth every penny!

dont buy! The frogs grow as big as a hand and hate being in a small tank and die. youll lose intrest in 2 years and they live 25! just go buy an african clawed frog at the pet store.
