Solar-Powered Rainbow Maker

Mine was given to me as a gift from my Mom. I have it hanging in a double pane window, and it works perfectly. Just watching it makes you happy. Highly recommended, for any age.

This device does not work in double-pane windows or with screens, and I feel this site is lax to not mention that fact. Our rainbow maker did work when taken outside to see if the mechanism was defective, but not in our windows. So as Dan says, get stationary crystals and do not pay for the motor if you have double-pane windows or permanent screens.

I got this last year for my daughter's room. Every morning she wakes up to rainbows gently moving across her walls. The rainbows last til the sun moves out of that window and so for about 5 hours a day she has this rainbow dance in her room. Every one who has seen it is in awe of the feeling it gives the room, it is very mystical, perfect for a little girl to sit and play in.

I received this as a gift five (5) years ago and fell in love with it right away. Beautiful colors dancing around the room and just cheerful. Yes, the sun has to be bright but it's like any solar powered object-- you enjoy it when the sun is bright and remember the beauty when it's cloudy. Just like life. Enjoy! I have since ordered more and glad I found this site to buy more. Thanks.

This is a very, well made unit and it has survived many falls to a hardwood floor since purchasing it almost a year ago.

As mentioned in the title, the grid can be rotated vertically to maximize effectiveness. It can also be hung at a slight angle (there is enough power to rotate the crystal) horozontally to again, grab the most direct sunlight.

I would buy it again .. several .. for gifts, if I could get the price I got last year.

The Sloar Powered Rainbow Maker is a perfect keystone for introducing a child to this renewable energy possibility. I continue to order these and send to nieces and nephews as small birthday gifts. They love this! And I love the question: "How does the sun make it turn?"

I purchased this toy for my son and I mounted it onto the window glass. The vacuum suction mount was good and it hasn't shown any sign of loose so far. The toy does what it supposes to do--the crystal spins under the sun light and projects dozens of rainbow spectral lights onto the wall. My son loves watching the those lights. However, there are something about this toy buyers should be aware: 1) it requires strong and direct sun light and doesn't work when it is cloudy. 2) the solar panel was mounted at a fixed angle and does not track the sun light. Depending on the direction of the window, the solar panel could only get enough sun light for a couple of hours per day. 3) The spinning speed varies depending on the amount of the input sun light. Mine turns ~3-6 rounds per pminute. 4) To see the projected rainbow lights on the wall, the windows need to be curtained to make the room sufficiently dark.

This is the best Rainbow maker on the market. Well worth the money. To work properly, the solar panel must be exposed to direct sunlight. my granddaughter is fascinated by hers!
