The Stirling Warwolf is generally thought of as history’s most powerful and famous trebuchet. Built under the auspices of Edward Longshanks – England’s first King – the Warwolf leveled a section of wall with one blow and victoriously ended the siege of Stirling Castle in 1304.
Designed at 1/20th scale with an authentic, historically accurate "squirrel-cage" winch mechanism, block-trolley system and working trigger, frame-ladder (for re-cocking), half-lap and mortise and tenon joinery, this kit will bring physics and history alive for you in a hands’ on, interactive way. This working model hurls its projectiles 40 to 60 feet (at 1/20 scale, that's the equivalent of 800 to 1200 feet for a life-sized trebuchet.)
Highly detailed and computer cut for accuracy, the assembled trebuchet will measure 18" h at the main axle and 32" to the tip of the arm; 22" l; 18" w. The detailed instructions are complete with diagrams, photos, tuning tips and even historical notes.
Kit Includes 140+ piece kit, wooden ball projectiles, and two scale-sized medieval warrior figures.
Additional counterweight required. Tools needed include glue, a flat file and a 1/4" round or rat-tail file, clamps or rubber bands, household scissors and sandpaper to smooth any rough edges
