Design Build and Test a Scale Eco Structure

Perfect for student science fairs, this kit will allow you to design a model for a healthy, clean, safe and energy-efficient building that is affordable and good for the health and well-being of people and the planet. This kit allows budding engineers to try their hand at this daunting task using simple materials that can be tested for energy efficiency, and structural integrity. Kit includes enough materials to build a prototype as well as a final version. 

Use a journal to chronicle the evolution of your design and make hand drawn blueprints. A sample Bill of Materials worksheet is included to estimate building costs. For ages 8+ with adult supervision.

• 10 sheets 1/8" x 14" x 14" corrugated cardboard
• 10 sheets 8.5" x 11" medium weight chipboard
• 10 sheets 1/8" x 12" x 12" foam pads
• 8 sheets 12" x 12" Cello sheets
• 1 roll 3/4" x 60 yds masking tape
• 1 plastic thermometer
• 1 CdS photocell
• 2 alligator clip to 4 mm banana connector leads
• 1 plastic serrated safety knife for cardboard
• Educational guide with educator content

You supply:

• Scissors
• Optional aesthetic components such as paint, vegetation, people, furniture

Optional Equipment (not included)

• Digital multi meter
• Portable room fan
• 250 Watt (or higher) heat bulb and lamp
• Small flashlight (to read thermometer)
