Glassless Mirrors – A Space Age Breakthrough in Optical Technology
Offering unparalleled safety, glassless mirrors are made of a thin, super reflective film, stretched over a sturdy aluminum frame. The silver metalized plastic layered film reflects an optical-quality image that is bright, clear and free of distortion. Because glassless mirrors are not made with glass, they offer several benefits over traditional glass mirrors such as being extremely lightweight and completely shatterproof.
Practical applications include ceiling and wall mirrors as well as monitoring and security. This same material was even used to design the shaving mirrors used by astronauts on the Space Shuttle.Simply use an ammonia glass cleaner like Windex with a soft lint-free cloth to clean.
Fully-Assembled Glassless Mirrors
Our pre-assembled ceiling and wall mirrors consist of a rigid foam core framed by an aluminum extrusion. The frame has a raised lip around the four edges. A polyester film, aluminized on the back side, is stretched across the raised edges to form the mirror surface. Because the film is mounted on raised edges, an air space is created between the back of the film and the core. The air space, 1/8", allows the film to flex under minor impact without damage and is able to withstand shock and vibration. The full length 6' x 4' mirror is available with or without a metal rolling floor stand (some assembly required).

Reflectivity: Minimum average direct reflectivity of 86% for light in the visible wavelength region (400 to 7020nm).
Surface Flatness: Equal to that of first surface glass mirrors.
Thermal Resistance: Image area and panel shall show no deterioration alter -20C (-4F) for a period of 1 ½ hours, transition period 1-1 ½ hours, and +50C (10F) for a period 1 ½ hour.
Humidity Resistance: Image area and panel shall show no deterioration after: 24 hours at 49C (120F) and 95% relative humidity or 120 hours at 40C (104F) and 90% relative humidity.
Panel Construction: Mirror panels are made of a ridged foam board framed with an aluminum extrusion over which the mirror film is tensioned.
