Unique way to teach classification!
This one-of-a-kind kit was developed by teacher Eric Pyle as a fun, hands-on activity that teaches students how to classify rocks. Students crush up different-colored sticks of candy and then sift and sort the pieces by color and grain size. Next, they line the pockets of the baking tray with foil, fill the pockets with a varied mixture of the crushed candy pieces and bake at a low temperature in a toaster oven. The result? "Igneous rocks" that the students then classify according to color and grain size. The kit includes candy, baking tray, teacher instruction sheet and reproducible student sheets.
The Candy Igneous Rock Classification Kit accommodates up to (10) student groups.
